“I Forgive You. I Welcome You.”

James 5:13-16; Luke 15:1-32 — When we confess and repent, God forgives us. Because of His Son Jesus Christ, God the Father welcomes us and seals his marvelous, undeserved forgiveness with celebration. We live out grace when we imitate and give that same kind of forgiveness to others, welcome them with love and open arms, and celebrate with joy.

"I Cover You"

Genesis 2:25-3:24 — When we disobey God and sin we hide in fear. We try to cover up our shame and guilt. But God seeks us and finds us. He covers our shame with the robe of Christ’s righteousness. Living in grace we can stand again naked and unashamed before God and others. Living out grace we cover others with the love and forgiveness of Christ that we have received. In Christ, we now live unashamed.

We have experienced and stand in God’s grace. We are living in grace. We are called to live out grace in order to build up the Body of Christ until we all reach full maturity in Christ. We are called to be a people of grace, to create a safe place to which people can come as they are, a safe place where all feel free and safe to be themselves as we journey together to know Jesus and learn together how to follow Him.

Our calling is to be true image-bearers, true reflections of God to the world by letting his love flow through us into the world and to others. We are in a time of testing. Will we fail the test by being like the world, or will we be faithful and love others as God loves us?

In Suffering Be Faithful and Rejoice

1 Peter 4:1-19 — During suffering be and remain faithful. Be of sound mind and practice self-control so that we can keep on praying. Keep on loving. Keep on showing hospitality. Keep serving others. Rejoice in suffering because we know that we are God’s children and the Holy Spirit is with us. Remain faithful and entrust our lives to the faithful Creator God. Remain faithful and God’s glory will be revealed.
