"I Call You"

August 9, 2020

Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15; Exodus 31:1-6; 1 Chronicles 29:11-12; 1 Corinthians 1:26-31; Ephesians 2:8-10; 4:1 —Why are we doing what we are doing? God says, “I call you.” This is the grace of calling. God created and saved us for a purpose. We are called to live and work for God’s kingdom and glory. We are called to live in and live out our identity, Christ in me. We do what we do because God called us to do it. His call qualifies us.

2 Samuel 9:1-13; Luke 7:36-50 (Part 2) —We deserve nothing, but our Heavenly Father gave us everything. He calls us to give everything to the person before us who deserve nothing. We are channels of God’s grace. We become a culture of grace, live out grace, by taking these steps.

When we confess and repent, God forgives us. Because of His Son Jesus Christ, God the Father welcomes us and seals his marvelous, undeserved forgiveness with celebration. We live out grace when we imitate and give that same kind of forgiveness to others, welcome them with love and open arms, and celebrate with joy.

"I Cover You"

July 5, 2020

Genesis 2:25-3:24 — When we disobey God and sin we hide in fear. We try to cover up our shame and guilt. But God seeks us and finds us. He covers our shame with the robe of Christ’s righteousness. Living in grace we can stand again naked and unashamed before God and others. Living out grace we cover others with the love and forgiveness of Christ that we have received. In Christ, we now live unashamed.

John 7:53-8:11 — Truth and grace always go together. When we face our truth before God and others, confess and repent, we experience grace and forgiveness that sets us free. Jesus does not condemn us. We experience grace that transforms our lives so that we sin no more. A culture of grace is a culture of truth.
