Philippians 2:12-18 — We must continue to work out our salvation so that we will be the light of the world. We must contend for our faith, the gospel of Christ, our spiritual growth in Christ, and his kingdom. We contend by holding firmly to the Word of life, doing everything without grumbling or arguing, serving others, and rejoicing in the Lord always. We work out our salvation in awe because God is at work in us, and He enables us to do so.
This is part of our sermon series, Rejoice in the Lord Always, in which we will be walking through Paul’s letter to the Philippians. For this whole sermon series, I acknowledge and credit the following sources and authors that informed my sermons and whose ideas I sometimes used or adapted: Peter Thomas O’Brien, The Epistle to the Philippians: A Commentary on the Greek Text, New International Greek Testament Commentary (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1991).
