Sticks & Stones

March 20, 2022

John 8:1-11 — We should change the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me” to read, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can sting like anything" because words do hurt. We have all sinned. No one is okay. Therefore, we should not judge and throw stones at others. Sin blinds us to our sin and blinds us to our blindness. No one is okay but Jesus makes us okay. We should turn to Him. In his compassion and grace He forgives us and gives us a second chance, “Go and sin no more.”

Rejected Stones

March 13, 2022

Matthew 21:33-46; Psalm 118 — Jesus Christ, the rejected Stone became the Chief Cornerstone — the only Savior, the only foundation of God’s kingdom, the most important stone, who alone holds the church together. On the Cross He, the Living Stone made us into living stones. Because of the Chief, Living Cornerstone, we are no longer rejected stones but living stones, God’s people. We are the cornerstones of the world shining the light of the Chief Cornerstone into the world.

Written In Stone

March 7, 2022

Ex 19:4-6; 24:3,12-18; 31:18-32:20; Mt 5:4 — God’s covenant is written in stone. We shattered those stones through our disobedience and breaking our promises to God. We should mourn in confession and repentance, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will comfort us. Lent is the time for us to mourn, to confess our sins, to repent, to let go of sin. It is the season for us to remember the sacrifice, suffering, and resurrection of our Savior; to remind ourselves why He had to make that ultimate sacrifice for us.
