Invincible and Fearless
March 3 2019
We trust in the Lord. Therefore, in a world filled with evil, suffering, hatred, and persecution we are invincible as we serve God’s purposes. In a world divided by violence, terrorism, and war, we will be fearless endowed with supernatural courage by the Holy Spirit.
Part of this sermon, especially the ideas of being invincible and fearless was inspired by and based upon the last two chapters of John Dickerson’s book, Hope of Nations: Standing Strong in a Post-Truth, Post-Christian World. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2018, Kindle Edition.

We are a people who praise and pray. We praise and pray to witness to the living God, to proclaim Jesus Christ, and invite the nations to worship God. We engage in missional praise and missional prayer.

Rejoice When Suffering
FEBRUARY 3 2019
When we suffer because we are persecuted for Jesus’ sake we should rejoice because we are blessed—the Kingdom of heaven is ours and we know our faith is real. We rejoice by revering Jesus Christ as Lord and following his example. We rejoice by praying, loving and serving.

Confront the World Courageously: Be Different!
JANUARY 13 2019
God’s people are called to engage the world constructively because this is God’s world. They are in the world. But they are also called to confront the world courageously because this world is in rebellion against God. They are not of the world. To confront the world they are called to be holy, that is to be different, and to stand up and speak out.
Part of our sermon series—”Be Courageous! Living as God’s People in God’s World.” This series is based on and follows the outline of Christopher J.H. Wright’s book, The Mission of God's People : A Biblical Theology of the Church's Mission, (Grand Rapids, Mich.: Zondervan, 2010). For this sermon these two sources were also used—Michael Anthony, A Call for Courage : Living with Power, Truth, and Love in an Age of Intolerance and Fear, (Nashville: Nelson Books, 2018); and Ed Stetzer, Christians in the Age of Outrage : How to Bring Our Best When the World Is at Its Worst, (Carol Stream, Illinois: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., 2018).
